Everest Base Camp Trek

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Later that day (or the following day, depending on your arrival time), we will hold a pre-trek briefing where you’ll meet your trekking guides and Sherpas and receive important details about your journey.

If time permits, we’ll take you to a popular local restaurant to enjoy authentic Nepali cuisine, cultural music, and traditional ethnic dance. On request, this special dinner can be rescheduled for the next day at your convenience.

Today, explore the cultural, historical, and natural wonders of Kathmandu Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage hub. Our guided tour takes you to some of the most iconic sites, offering a glimpse into Nepal’s rich history, architecture, and spiritual heritage.

After the sightseeing tour, we will conduct a pre-trek preparation session where we finalize essential trekking gear such as down jackets, trekking boots, sleeping bags, and other necessary equipment. Our team will ensure you have everything required for a safe and comfortable trek.

Early in the morning, we head to Kathmandu’s domestic airport for a scenic 30-35 minute flight to Lukla (2,800m), the gateway to the Everest region. If the weather is clear, enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas and rolling landscapes.

Upon arrival at Tenzing-Hillary Airport, we have breakfast at a local lodge while our luggage is prepared by the porters. Our trek begins on a stone-paved trail, passing through charming Sherpa villages, prayer rocks, and Mani walls. As we move through Bhaisekharka, the lush surroundings offer fantastic photography opportunities.

After a gradual 8 km trek, we arrive at Phakding, a scenic riverside village perfect for acclimatization. Here, you can relax, explore, or visit nearby monasteries, located just a 30-minute walk west of the river.

After a hearty breakfast at the lodge in Phakding, we begin our trek toward Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest. The trail takes us across the first suspension bridge, passing through charming Sherpa villages like Zapute, Toktok, Benkar, and Chumoa before reaching Monjo, the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. Along the way, enjoy scenic stops at small tea houses and local shops.

At Monjo, we complete national park permit formalities before descending to cross a long suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. The trek continues with another thrilling bridge crossing, leading us to the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, the highest on this trail. From here, we begin a steep uphill climb toward Namche Bazaar.

As you ascend, you’ll get your first glimpse of Mount Everest, partly hidden behind Lhotse and Nuptse. You’ll also see magnificent peaks like Mt. Kusum Khangru and Mt. Lhotse.

After a challenging yet rewarding 10 km trek, we arrive at Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town with breathtaking mountain views, cozy lodges, bakeries, and gear shops.

Today is the first of two acclimatization days, allowing your body to adjust to the high altitude before continuing the trek. Instead of staying idle, staying active is highly recommended for better acclimatization.

You have two great options for a short acclimatization hike:

• Thame Village – A traditional Sherpa village with stunning Himalayan views.
• Khumjung, Khunde, or Khongde Village – These scenic villages offer panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks while immersing you in Sherpa culture.

After the hike, explore Namche Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the Everest region. Visit the National Park Headquarters, Museum, and ancient monasteries to learn more about Everest's history and Sherpa traditions.

If you prefer a relaxed day, enjoy cafés, bakeries, and restaurants in Namche. The town also offers modern amenities like a post office, hospital, dental clinic, government health post, electricity, high-speed internet, and water supply.

After breakfast, trek towards Kyangjuma, enjoying stunning views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. Descend to the Dudh Koshi River (3,250m) through rhododendron and birch forests, spotting musk deer, pheasants, and Himalayan Thar.

Pass through Sansa, a key junction for Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp, before a steep ascent leads to Tengboche. Visit the iconic Tengboche Monastery, the largest in Khumbu, offering a spiritual atmosphere and panoramic Himalayan views.

Start the day with a descent through lush forests to the riverside, then cross a bridge and gradually ascend to Pangboche (3,860m)—the highest year-round settlement in the valley. Along the way, admire Chortens, Mani walls, and breathtaking views of Ama Dablam.

Continue towards Pheriche, followed by a moderate walk through the Imja Valley. The final stretch involves a steep ascent before reaching Dingboche, a beautiful high-altitude village surrounded by stunning Himalayan landscapes.

After breakfast, hike up the ridge behind Dingboche for stunning panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other Himalayan peaks. From this vantage point, you can also admire Imja Khola Valley and the picturesque fields and pastures of Dingboche.

Alternatively, spend the day exploring the serene Dingboche Valley, soaking in the breathtaking high-altitude scenery while allowing your body to acclimatize.

After breakfast, the trail ascends through Khumbu Khola Valley towards Dughla. Passing through Dusa and Phulung Karpo, enjoy breathtaking views of Chola Lake and Mt. Pumori (7,138m). As the trail narrows, a short descent leads to a roaring glacial stream before a steep ascent to Dughla.

Climbing up the Khumbu Glacier's terminal moraine, you'll see memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Continuing, the trail offers spectacular views of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal, before gently ascending to Lobuche.

The trail gradually ascends to Gorak Shep, where we check into a lodge and have lunch before heading toward Everest Base Camp (EBC). Along the way, you'll pass the pyramid sign and witness breathtaking views of Mt. Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Nuptse.

A short climb offers a 360° panorama of the Himalayas, and a steep ascent through the Changri Glacier’s rugged terrain provides a glimpse of Kala Patthar. Walking along rocky, glacial trails leads to Everest Base Camp (5,357m / 17,575ft), where you can soak in the awe-inspiring surroundings.

After exploring EBC, we trek back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay at a lodge.

We begin our pre-dawn hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m / 18,192ft), the best viewpoint of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and Ama Dablam. As the sun rises, the snowcapped peaks glow golden before returning to their natural hues.

After capturing this breathtaking moment, we descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast and then retrace our steps to Pheriche, passing through glacial landscapes and rugged trails.

After a hearty breakfast, we descend easily to Pangboche village before crossing the Imja Khola River and climbing up to Tengboche. A steep descent leads us to the Dudh Koshi River, where we cross the first bridge on our return journey at Phunki Tenga. Passing through Tashinga and Sansa, we reach Kyangjuma, followed by an easy walk to Namche Bazaar.

After an early breakfast, we descend from Namche Hill to the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, near its confluence with the Bhote Koshi. The trail leads us to Monjo, where we complete National Park exit formalities before continuing to Phakding for lunch. Since this is the final trekking day, we continue to Lukla, enjoying flat trails with open plains, rhododendron & pine forests, Sherpa villages, prayer stones, and fluttering prayer flags. Upon reaching Lukla, you can relax, reflect on the journey, or celebrate with the trekking crew.

Lukla flights typically operate in the morning. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast while your guide handles airport formalities. Sherpas and porters will transport your luggage to the airport. Once your flight arrives, board the plane for a scenic 30-minute journey back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, a private vehicle will be ready to escort you to your hotel.

Your incredible journey comes to an end today. Our representative will assist you with your airport transfer according to your flight schedule. If you have a late departure, enjoy some last-minute shopping or explore the city at your leisure.
